Malvasia is not just a grape variety. It is more like a large family of grape varieties, with quite different characteristics as well. The Istrian version, in particular, is, among the different white grape varieties, the ideal one for producing wines that are not aromatic but have great finesse, elegance and complexity. Benvenuti, a family business of Croatian origin, enhances this noble grape variety by offering it in a super traditional version, aged for 6 months in contact with its own lees in steel tanks before being bottled and left to rest for a short time in the cellar. This reveals a beautiful wine characterized by a straw-yellow color. Pronounced green apple and peach notes on the nose, followed by a floral note reminiscent of acacia. In the mouth it is dry, very fresh and has great minerality. A well-balanced wine overall, it has pronounced intensity and persistence, an unmistakable sign of great quality. This Malvasia "Istarska" goes well with delicately flavored risottos. Great with those made with zucchini and shrimp, for example, but also with light white meat dishes, such as chicken, or fish and vegetables. Finally, try it with classic seafood and fresh cheeses.
