    Nero di Troia Puglia IGT 2018
  • An organic red wine made from pure Nero di Troia grapes, this IGT Puglia is characterised by its beautiful longevity, elegance and persistence. Always known for its high tannin content, in the past this wine was used to create blends. Recently, however, thanks to improved production techniques, Nero di Troia has been at the centre of a cultural and taste enhancement, entering by right into the restricted group of noble vines of the Apulia region. Harvesting, strictly by hand at Antica Enotria, begins in the second week of October. After crushing and destemming, the must macerates in steel vats for about 15 days. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to large 30-hectolitre barrels for maturation, where it remains for at least 24 months. As a final step, the wine is bottled to undergo a further 12 months of refinement in glass. Of remarkable typicality, Nero di Troia is distinguished by its ruby red colour with violet hues. The bouquet is elegant and intense. It recalls very clear notes of ripe fruit, spices and light toasting. In the mouth, however, it is pleasantly soft and fresh, well supported by a delicate tannicity. A wine with an important flavour, it goes well with intensely flavoured dishes, such as first courses with truffles or meat sauces. Try it also with a tasty roast pork or, for those who like it, with lamb or mature cheeses.

    Since 1993, the year of their first harvest, the Di Tuccio family, the soul of the Antica Enotria company, has been cultivating their land with love. Preserving the tradition of taste, with a single objective: the genuineness of the products. This is why, right from the start of their adventure, they decided to obtain organic certification. After all, organic farming is a lifestyle choice for the family, not just a simple cultivation method. Just as the wine they produce is the result of a process that tells the story of the bond between man and land. Antica Enotria is located in Cerignola, Apulia. Here, a fortunate and unrepeatable mix of climatic conditions, soil and air allow the grapes grown in their vineyards, which extend from the hinterland almost to the sea, to reach full maturity. Aromas and flavours that are enhanced thanks to a careful selection process and to the modern processing cellar located inside the ancient Contessa Staffa farm, a noble building dating back to 1700.
