Fonsina is a pleasant white wine from the Accornero winery, a Monferrato DOC that is the result of processing two international grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc that can offer a pleasant and complex sensory experience, balancing the distinctive characters of both varieties. Produced since 1999, this white wine is the result of careful vinification that begins with the pressing of the grapes and a short maceration on the skins. Matured in stainless steel tanks, the wine is cold stabilised and bottled in the spring following the harvest. In the glass it has a brilliant straw yellow colour. The nose offers a complex aromatic bouquet, with notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, such as ripe apple and peach, to which are added herbaceous and citrus aromas typical of Sauvignon Blanc. In the mouth, it offers an intriguing balance between softness and acidity. The structure, round and creamy, is well balanced by citrus freshness. Mineral on the finish, it offers easy and pleasant drinking. Perfect as an aperitif, it is excellent with first and second courses of fish.
A fine family history. The Accornero family, in fact, have proudly been winegrowers for five generations. And since 1897 they have continued to produce high quality wines with the same passion and commitment that drove their great-grandfather Bartolomeo in the beginning. Accornero is located in the heart of Monferrato, in an area defined as the land of Barbera and Grignolino. The winery is located in the municipality of Vignale Monferrato. Here is Ca' Cima, with a vineyard area of 25 hectares. The family's aim is to produce wines that are strongly linked to the territory. To do this, they manage the vineyards in a way that respects the land and the environment, and after the harvest (by hand) the best grapes are taken to a cellar that is equipped with all the latest technology. Innovation, therefore, but also a lot of tradition, since all production processes remain the same as in the past.
