"Dell'Orco" Sforzato della Valtellina DOCG 2017

Valtellina Superiore DOCG, Sforzato Dell'Orco is a wonderful wine from the territory, an illustrious son of that incredible wine region that borders the northern border of the Lombardy region. Here things get serious and viticulture becomes heroic for real. At harvest time, the best bunches are selected by hand. Even the smallest defect must be avoided since, once they reach the winery, the grapes undergo a slow period of drying in boxes lasting 3 to 4 months before vinification. At the end of this phase, the grapes are first crushed and then sent to the fermentation phase in small stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a long maturation phase of 30 months in first-passage French and American oak tonneaux and barriques. An important wine characterized by a complex bouquet that ranges from spices to raisins, passing through red fruits, flowers and tobacco, in the mouth it reveals ripe tannins and a perfect correspondence with what was perceived previously. Elegant and rich, warm and refined, it is a red of great style and complex structure. Excellent to accompany dishes with strong flavors, it is also perfect as a meditation wine to end an evening with friends on a high note.
