It is made from a blend of 60% Nebbiolo and the rest from Barbera. It's hard to imagine a more wine more typical of Piedmont than this. A wine made to last a long time. Good today, of course, but also capable of waiting patiently for a few years in the cellar. Over time it will acquire more and more complexity and depth, becoming even more rewarding. The process is typical for the winery and involves prolonged maceration on the skins in order to maximize extraction, while preserving the elegance of the two original grape varieties. This is followed by a brief passage in French oak barriques and subsequent ageing in Slavonian oak casks for a total of twenty-four months. This is followed by a further six months in bottle before release. Ruby red of good intensity with garnet reflections, in the glass it reveals an intense perfume reminiscent of roses, currant jam and cherries. In the mouth you can clearly recognize the finesse of Nebbiolo and the freshness of Barbera. The whole gives the wine elegance, pleasantness and harmony.
Tenute Cisa Asinari of the Marchesi di Grèsy. The name alone is enough to bring a certain awe. Here, in fact, we are looking at the true nobility of Piedmontese wine. A very long history that has its roots at the end of the 18th century when the Martinenga estate was donated to the Grèsy family. From then on, the history of the company tells of marriages, acquisitions and lots and lots of passion for the territory. The current Marchesi di Grèsy winery was officially founded in 1973. It was created to produce wine from the grapes of the Cisa Asinari estate, already a family property. Today the group has four separate estates, although the main one is still Martinenga, in the heart of Barbaresco. The others are those of Monte Aribaldo, in Treiso, La Serra, in Cassine, and Monte Colombo, also adjacent to La Serra. Today the company can count on a total of about 45 hectares of vineyards, distributed in different estates of the Langhe and Monferrato. Energy saving and reduction of environmental impact are two fixed points of the entire production.
