Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier is located in the Mosel region of Germany. Its origins go back a long way. They date back as far as 1772, when Archbishop Wenceslaus of Saxony created the Bischöfliche Priesterseminar, which to this day is still an important religious education centre of the Trier Diocese. The 'modern' history of the wine cellar dates back to 1966, thanks to the merger of several entities, Bischöfliches Konvikt, Bischöfliches Priestersemi and Hohe Domkirche. Today, Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier owns extraordinarily valuable plots of land and offers a range of high-quality wines, made according to the oldest local traditions. Steep, non-mechanisable vineyards and a modern processing cellar, equipped with stainless steel vats for vinification and around a thousand barrels for ageing, are its distinguishing features.
