Casa de Outeiro is a wine project that began in 2019 in the heart of Ribeira Sacra, one of the most fascinating and least known wine-growing areas in Galicia, north-west Spain. Located in the Quiroga Valley, about 350 metres above sea level, the estate covers 32 hectares of land characterised by an extraordinary variety of soils ranging from slate to quartzite, red clay (terras roxas) and loamy soils. This diversity of soil and climate allows the production of wines with a marked minerality, aromatic, fruity and with great structure. The heart of the project is the historic Casa de Outeiro, a large 14th-century manor house with a chapel and noble coat of arms. The acquisition of the property by the Maseda Fole family marked the beginning of a profound commitment: to restore not only the building, but also the cultural and wine-growing heritage of the region. Casa de Outeiro's production philosophy is based on the enhancement of the terroir and native varieties. The vineyards, cultivated on terraces, are home to eight local varieties, including Mencía for reds and Godello for whites.
