This Chardonnay proposed by Borgo Conventi comes from the Isonzo area. Rich soils capable of giving life to intense vines in terms of aromas and perfumes. Once fully ripe, the grapes are brought to the cellar to be transformed within a few hours of harvesting. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature activated by selected yeasts, at the end of vinification this wine rests, again in stainless steel tanks, until the spring following the harvest, when it is finally bottled. Straw yellow in colour with good intensity, the nose magnificently combines a lively, fragrant and fruity aroma. In the mouth it reveals a good structure, with a light aftertaste reminiscent of fresh almonds. Excellent to drink young, it can also age for a few years in the bottle. On the table it requires an elegant and appetizing combination, such as shellfish or seafood.
The Borgo Conventi winery was founded in 1975 in one of the first monasteries in the area of Farra d'Isonzo, built by a Dominican monk on land received as a gift from Count Strassoldo, known as "il Rizzardo". In 2001 the company became part of the group owned by the historic Folonari family, an important name in the world of wine, while in 2019 it was acquired by the Moretti Polegato family, already owners of the Veneto-based company Villa Sandi, a reference point for the world of Prosecco. A corner of paradise for vine cultivation, which here reaches levels of absolute excellence, especially thanks to the aromatic white grape varieties.
