Bodegas Bilbaínas

The company was founded in 1859 by a group of French merchants who, in response to the devastation caused by phylloxera, moved their business to the Rioja region, and more precisely to Haro. Later, in 1901, the company was acquired by a group of entrepreneurs from Bilbao and finally, in 1997, it became part of the Codorníu Raventós group. With more than 240 hectares of vineyards in a region where the average estate is very small, Bodegas Bilbaínas is now considered the fourth largest winery in Rioja. It produces excellent wines exclusively from grapes grown in its own vineyards, cultivated with all the region’s typical varieties, from Tempranillo to Garnacha, from Graciano to Mazuelo and Malvasía. Restored and renovated by its current owners, the estate features historic underground cellars where all the wines are aged.
