"Pietracalda" Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2021 - Feudi di San Gregorio

If the evening (gastronomic) promises to be superb, the wine we choose must be up to the mark. With shellfish, for example, the choice must fall on a white wine that has personality and that hint of freshness and flavour that can counterbalance the subtle sweetness of their white meat. But the same goes for octopus which, when prepared properly, remains soft and delicate. If the occasion is right, this is the wine to choose. Fiano 100%, proposed by Feudi di San Gregorio in its line of Selections. Intense straw yellow in colour, the nose reveals elegant aromas ranging from fresh chamomile flowers, freshly picked fruit and even candied citron. In the mouth, however, these pleasant fruity sensations are balanced by a lively freshness and a hint of minerality. A really nice glass. One of those that almost never lasts until the end of the meal. Better to have a good supply.

There is a subtle fil-rouge that unites everything that has been done at Feudi di San Gregorio since its inception in 1986. It is the desire to make the most of the priceless heritage of indigenous grape varieties of Campania tradition. Starting with Greco, Fiano and Aglianico, the true regional flag bearers. Today the company can count on a total of 300 hectares of vineyards, divided into over 800 plots that differ in altitude, exposure and slopes. A marvellous natural puzzle that perfectly expresses the biodiversity of the territory and is able to give life to extraordinary cru. It is currently one of the leading wineries in Southern Italy, with exports covering more than 50 countries worldwide. The experience gained over the years has therefore led the Capaldo family, who have always been the mind and soul of the company, to decide to explore the winemaking potential of other regions of Italy. This is how the "Tenute Capaldo" project was born, which includes a complex of wineries ranging from DUBL, also from Campania, to Campo alle Comete in Tuscany, passing through Basilisco, an organic winery in Vulture, Ognissole, a biodynamic winery in Puglia, Sirch, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, and finally FedeGraziani, a small jewel on the slopes of Etna. They all share the same values: to produce wines of excellent quality while respecting their territory.
