"Tellus" Syrah Lazio IGP 2019 - Famiglia Cotarella - Falesco

Tellus Syrah is a Lazio IGP proposed by Famiglia Cotarella. A beautiful red characterised by an intense colour, with even purplish highlights. The nose reveals a pleasant perfume, characterised by clear scents of fresh fruit and cherry, with spicy notes that blend with balance and elegance, with those of vanilla and sweetness from the wood. In the mouth it is enveloping, silky, with soft tannins and a rich, persistent finish. Tellus Syrah was created with the aim of representing the great potential of the Latium vineyard at its best. Careful attention to the individual plants, with particular reference to the training system and to limiting production, makes it possible to obtain grapes of great balance, both in terms of sugar and phenolics. Immediately after the harvest and subsequent pressing, the Syrah grapes are sent to a cold pre-maceration phase lasting 4 or 5 days. This technique brings out the best of the fruit's natural characteristics of freshness and fragrance. Subsequently, once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is put into wooden barrels for the necessary maturation phase, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. Perfect with local hors d'oeuvres based on cured meats and cheeses, and meat-based main courses.

The Cotarella name, in the Italian and international wine world, is one of those of weight. Riccardo Cotarella, in fact, is the best known contemporary oenologist, the one who signs, or has signed, some of the finest wines of recent years. Iconic and successful products, often awarded by wine guides all over the world. Famiglia Cotarella is the family business, founded in 1979, in Montefiascone, in the province of Viterbo, from the work of two brothers, Renzo and Riccardo. A very special project, conceived with a very precise objective, that of recovering the ancient vines of the area. Almost 50 years later, Famiglia Cotarella has become an absolute reference point for quality oenology in central Italy. In recent years, the two Cotarella brothers have passed the hand over to their daughters, Dominga, Marta and Enrica, who take care of every aspect. Today the company has expanded considerably and cultivates land in Umbria and Tuscany, as well as in Lazio.

Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is put into wood where malolactic fermentation also takes place.
