Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2022

When the designation Alto Adige DOC is combined with the specific Pinot Noir, expectations are already high. When you then discover that this particular bottle comes from one of the region's iconic wineries, the legendary Elena Walch, expectations become even higher. And, fortunately, you are rarely disappointed. A pure Pinot Noir, this mountain red wine is the result of superbly careful vinification of the best grapes on the estate. It starts with a long contact with the skins for a period of at least 10 days, followed by a fermentation phase at controlled temperature, in steel, and the classic malolactic conversion. For the ageing phase, the mass is divided into two. Part matures in large 22-hectolitre oak casks, part matures in steel. The result is a fabulous wine with a brilliant ruby red colour, delicate aromas of red berries, cherries and raspberries, and a spicy note of white pepper in the background. It convinces on the palate with its firm structure and inviting savouriness. The tannins are delicate and it is easy to perceive a slight spicy aroma that leads to a fresh finish.
