"Altinum" TrentoDoc 2018 - Cantina Aldeno

An important name for a wine that does not want, and should not, go unnoticed. Altinum, TrentoDoc 2014 proposed here by Cantina Aldeno, is a sparkling wine designed to be served, with satisfaction, throughout the meal. It has enough character and personality to accompany tasty meat or fish dishes. A good risotto, for example, or a baked fish with a side of vegetables. Or even roast veal with potatoes. All dishes that do not struggle to combine with the elegance of this mountain bubbly. Altinum is made from a blend of Chardonnay grapes for the most part, with a small percentage of Pinot Noir. This particular cuvée, and above all the slow maturation of over 36 months on the lees, make this sparkling wine perfect for long storage in the cellar while waiting to find the right occasion to uncork it. In the glass, we will discover a wine characterized by a beautiful straw yellow colour, with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose has intense aromas, with direct references to wild flowers, sweet and juicy fruit, honey and even an intriguing hint of almond. In the mouth, finally, it reveals itself as a full and elegant wine. Delicate but persistent.

There are few regions in Italy where cooperation in the field of wine produces better results than Trentino. In this case, the birth of the Cantina Sociale was the natural consequence of a viticulture that over the years has become increasingly central to the life of a small mountain village. Hills covered with pergolas and passionate men who cultivated their land to produce great wines of the area. Then, in 1910, a group of particularly far-sighted producers decided to bet everything on the wine of Aldeno, uniting their efforts in the Cantina Sociale. The intuition, today more than ever, is that in a competitive world like that of wine, the only way to emerge was to create a solid reality, capable of operating safely in all markets. A few years later, a second cooperative was born, the Unione Vinicola Aldeno. And the history of these two cooperatives will accompany the life of the community and the town for more than half a century. Until 1972, when the two companies merged, creating the current winery.
