Of the Guagnano winery, this is the most representative wine. Amativo di Cantele is an important and fine wine, the child of its land and impeccable production technique. Its blend is as Apulian as one can imagine. Primitivo and Negroamaro, from the company's best plots in Guagnano, Sava and San Pietro Vernotico. Quality-oriented vineyards, still cultivated with the traditional Alberello system, much loved by wine lovers for the wines it can express, but feared by producers forced to work long hours strictly by hand. The two varieties reach perfect ripeness at different times. Between the beginning and the end of September. Harvesting is naturally by hand, with careful selection of the best bunches. Once in the cellar, the grapes are then destemmed and crushed, and the must macerates with the skins for 12-15 days. At the end of vinification and after the wine has fully undergone malolactic fermentation, it is matured in barriques for a period of about 12 months. Amativo is a rich and concentrated red wine with a remarkable capacity for ageing. Excellent already today, it is a red capable of evolving in the cellar for over 10 years, continuing to offer ever-changing emotions. It is the classic wine that should be purchased in several bottles. The first to take pleasure in immediately. The others to keep jealously in the cellar, waiting for the right occasion to repeat a journey of pure pleasure.

A story in reverse. And all the more fascinating for that. We are talking about Cantele, one of Puglia's best-loved and most appreciated wineries, by enthusiasts and professionals alike, in every corner of the world. A story in reverse since its beginnings when, in 1950, Giovanni Battista Cantele, from Pramaggiore in the Veneto region, and his wife Teresa Manara, from Imola in Romagna, decided to move from northern Italy to Puglia, in the province of Lecce. The founder of the family, it must be said, was already involved in the bulk wine market. The second path backwards is linked to the birth of the company. We are in 1979 and, in this case, the decision is to start with the marketing of bottled wines only, and then, over time, move up through all the stages of the production chain. The first harvest, in fact, dates back to 1992 and in 1999 the winery was created. Since then, the Cantele family's activities have continued unabated, until 2002, when the new winery was created in Guagnano, in the heart of the Salice Salentino DOC area. Today, the company is well established in the main foreign markets as well as at home, and in particular is among the most appreciated wineries in its region.
