Franciacorta Brut "Essence" DOCG Millesimato 2016 - Antica Fratta

Lovers of effervescence and good Franciacorta wines, this is a bottle not to be missed. We are talking about Essence Brut, vintage 2016, proposed by Antica Fratta. In this case, the long stay on the yeasts guarantees a high degree of complexity, elegance and pleasantness. The starting cuvée is composed of 90% Chardonnay grapes and 10% Pinot Noir vinified in white, which contributes to obtaining a wine with good body, without affecting the elegance of the Chardonnay. Harvesting begins between mid-August and early September, when the grapes have reached the correct sugar maturity, while still retaining considerable acidity and freshness. After the second fermentation, the wine matures in the bottle for at least 42 months, of which at least 36 months on the lees. Straw yellow with golden hues, this elegant Franciacorta DOCG reveals a fine and persistent perlage, and is covered by a dense creamy froth. The nose reveals a broad bouquet, with hints of ripe fruit. In the mouth, however, it is full and well articulated. Endowed with a natural fragrance, it is intense, balanced and has a good persistence. A bubbly created to accompany the whole meal with satisfaction, it is perfect, in particular, with first and second courses of white meat or tasty fish. Also excellent with cured meats and cheeses.

Antica Fratta has a long history, closely linked to that of the Franciacorta region. Its origins date back to the mid-nineteenth century, when the Knight of the Grand Cross Luigi Rossetti, a wealthy wine merchant in the area, transformed an old farmhouse of the sixteenth century into his residence, renovating the old cellars dug into the rock of the hill on which rests the Villa and making them, as well as a showcase of excellence for his business, a personal jewel to preserve his selections. After the death of the knight, the property passed from hand to hand, until 1979, when the production of the modern Antica Fratta began. Over the years, the company has been able to push its horizons further and further, and has come to be consecrated as one of the great names of Franciacorta.
