On the Company's website it is classified within the category "The expression of the Territory". And this says a lot about the typicality of this Sicilian red wine, son of pure Nerrello Cappuccio grapes, coming from the youngest vineyards of the company. Plants that already have over 16 vintages on their branches anyway. Young, yes, but not too young. La fata galanti, Sicilia Rosso IGT, requires more than 3 years of processing before it can be put on the market. In order, in fact, after vinification it undergoes an aging of 12 months in French oak barrels. A further 12 months in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. At least 12 months in bottles The wine has an intense ruby red colour, with reflections tending towards violet. On the nose there is a clear scent of marasca cherry and wild berries, followed by hints of spice. In the mouth, however, it is warm, soft, with a good freshness, a fair tannicity and a right persistence.

Al-Cantàra was born from the happy intuition that a good wine is "poetry" and to make it you need "art" - as you can read on the winery's website. It is no coincidence that all the wines produced have names of poems by Sicilian authors and the labels reflect the works of two young painters from Catania. We're in the heart of Sicily. In a corner of paradise that is located exactly in contrada Feudo S. Anastasia in the municipality of Randazzo, 620 metres above sea level. The summit of Mount Etna, not far away, watches over the vineyards and the winery from above. The name Al-Cantàra comes from the river that flows at the foot of the volcano. Although young, the company was officially opened in 2005, has already established itself nationally and internationally thanks to the high quality of its wines, awarded by food and wine critics. Today the company can count on a total of 20 hectares of land, of which about 15 hectares are planted with vines. And among these about 4 are historical, over 60 years old, with a thousand prephylloxera strains. Total production, mostly under the hat of DOC Etna, is about 100 thousand bottles per year. Once again tradition and innovation go hand in hand under the blue sky of Sicily.

  • Sensations The wine isan intense ruby red colour with violet reflections, the nose initially perceives a clear scent of morello cherry and wild berries, followed by spicy hints. In the mouth it is warm, soft with a good freshness, a discreet tannicity and quite persistent. We can pair it with red meat, fatty fish or drink it alone as an aperitif.
  • Vinification The grapes are harvested by hand, in small crates, by a team of expert local women. Once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed, then pumped into the different fermentation vats. The alcoholic fermentation lasts about twenty days, at a controlled temperature between 26 and 28?C. During this phase, pumping over and delestage are carried out in order to favour the extraction and stabilisation of the colour and perfumes. Once maceration is complete, the wine is drawn off and the malolactic fermentation takes place for about a month. Refinement: 12 months in barriques, 12 months in stainless steel, 12 months in bottle.
